A PHONE SYSTEM FOR EVERY BUSINESS

Installation

The right system by the right installer certainly has the potential to dramatically increase your company’s productivity. With comprehensive installation included, a good new phone system should cost around $500 to $1,000 per phone depending on several factors such as capacity size and what add-ons and features are included. Financing can aid the purchase and may qualify as a significant tax deduction. However, looking to purchase a new phone system can be frustrating. To be fair most systems offer nearly the same features but in different ways and with various technical terms which only adds to the confusion when trying to select one. Vertex offers Avaya IP Office, the most flexible and powerful phone system for small to mid-sized businesses, so no need to look any further for a complete set of features.

To help you prepare for the information you'll be required to provide when searching for a new phone system you'll need to know at least the basics:
A phone system consists of two main provisions: lines & phones. These essentials are the foundation that is required for your business to effectively interact with your Clients. The lines allow you to connect to the world, and the phones let you share that connection with your fellow employees.

Now that you know about the basics, the following terms may also help prepare you to understand and assist in providing the necessary information when requesting a phone system proposal that leads to a smooth installation:
  • User-Ports / Station-Ports / Phone-Ports / Extension-Ports

How many phones do you intend to activate? These include current Users or desk stations and other phones such as lobby-phones, wall-phones etc.; Keep in mind future growth plans and “spare” phones.
IP or digital? IP will require a PoE switch or power-brick
  • Lines / CO's / Trunks
What is the maximum number of simultaneous calls you anticipate at any given time. Again, keep in mind future growth plans.
    Analog, PRI, or SIP?
  • Analog Devices / Analog Station Ports
Example: fax machines, credit card machines, alarm systems (burglar and/or fire) or modems. –These devices usually have a dedicated line and can stay that way.

  • Cordless/Wireless
Do you have a need for mobility within your office or warehouse space? How many handsets?
